TOURNAMENTS
Welcome to the Apolyton CtP2 "Tournaments" section, an entertaining and educational feature for everyone who likes to play Call to Power II! What exactly is this does this Tournaments feature, you ask? Apolyton CtP2 Tournaments are a feature in which every so often a new game will be started, saved in the very first turn and placed it on this site. Then everyone can download this (zipped) savegame and play it. When you've done this and you've finished your game, submit the final savegame to us and a ranking of everyone who has participated will be made. There will be two winners for every victory type (Conquest, Diplomacy, Science, etc): one for the highest score and one for the earliest year in which the victory was achieved. You can compare your score with other people's and see how good you are. You are very much encouraged to discuss your progress and share your experiences with other players in the forums. You can discuss strategies and use tips and tricks of other players to improve your own game. It's a very casual contest, the discussion is just as important as the contest.
These tournaments will be played on a different setup every time. A different combination of difficulty level, map type, number of opponents, barbarian setting and mod(s) will be used every time. There are many different mods available, from very small and simple ones that change very little to very large and complex ones that are a complete overhaul of the game. They are all fun to try out some time; these tournaments invite and incites you to do just that, thus showing you the diversity of CtP2.

Note: scoring in the Tournaments is as normal, except that all opponents defeated above twice the original number of players in the game don't earn you bonus points. If you defeat more opponents, your Tournament endscore will be manually adjusted to reflect this. The reason for this is to counter exploitation of the bug that one gets a lot of bonus points for conquering civs, in particular the one-city civs which are created after rebellions when MaxCities in userprofile.txt has a high value.
